My son had both a lip tie and tongue tie, and Shara was incredible throughout the entire process. She helped rehabilitate him after the procedure and provided invaluable breastfeeding support and tips that made a huge difference in our journey.

Shara was knowledgeable, compassionate, patient, and always willing to answer my questions. She took the time to ensure both my son and I were comfortable and confident every step of the way. Her guidance helped make breastfeeding much more successful and less stressful.

As a new mom facing the challenges of breastfeeding, I truly don’t know what I would have done without Shara’s support. From the very first session, she was incredibly patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I was struggling with latching issues and feeling completely overwhelmed, but Shara took all the time I needed—never rushed, never pushy—and helped me figure things out at a pace that felt right for me and my baby.

What really stood out was how she always centered my goals and made me feel empowered. Her guidance was thoughtful and compassionate, and she offered helpful advice without ever imposing. She was also the one who identified that my baby had a tongue tie very early on, which was a game-changer. On top of that, she provided excellent referrals to other professionals in the area, which made a big difference.

My son struggled with breastfeeding because of an oral tie and in result had poor weight gain and difficulty latching. We worked with Shara and she gave tips on getting him to re-latch as well as a plan on getting him at the breast more. With her expertise my son has been exclusively breastfeeding and transferring enough milk!!! My family and I are really grateful for her services and I highly recommend her.

There is so much more to lactation and breastfeeding than just latching, and Shara knows it all. Shara is kind and warm and non judgmental about whatever feeding situation works for your family. Shara Feltz MSN, CRNP, IBCLC is a certified nurse practitioner and an International Board- Certified Lactation Consultant. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Neuropsychology along with minors in Natural Science, Biology, and Health Policy & Administration. She completed an additional Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with an International Health certificate from Georgetown University. She then completed her Master’s degree of Nursing from George Washington University and Nurse Practitioner certification from ANCC.

She has over 10 years experience working in pediatrics in a variety of settings including hospital, outpatient and home healthcare. Additionally, she has extensive experience providing both in-home and in office care to new and expecting families. As a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority, Shara is capable of treating mothers and babies with more complicated clinical breastfeeding difficulties. Shara has extensive experience in the physical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of lactation problems. She has worked with newborns who have complex medical issues including prematurity, multiple births, heart defects, pulmonary conditions, and hyperbilirubinemia.

As a mother of four, Shara has also experienced the challenges of balancing work, breastfeeding and pumping personally. She strives to help families balance these challenges to reach their goals and achieve a positive breastfeeding experience.

Shara is a member of NAPNAP Breastfeeding Special Interest Group, the International Lactation Consultants Association (ILCA), Lactation Consultants Association of Greater Washington (LCAGW) and the United States Lactation Consultant Association (USLCA).
